The article discusses the theory of psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan regarding the concept of object relation as opposed to those of psychoanalyst Maurice Bouvet. Topics discussed include the object relation theory of Bouvet which would require the maturation of drives that consist of the pregenital character and the genital character. Also discussed is Lacan's definition of desire as fundamentally perverse.
